This four-year course is designed to cultivate students' understanding and appreciation of French and francophone cultures throughout history. The curriculum encompasses language studies, cinematic analysis, and literary works ranging from medieval times to modern eras, covering themes like libertinism, critical theory, modernism, and postcolonial perspectives. A key component involves intensive training in both spoken and written French, incorporating oral presentations, translation tasks, and comprehension activities. Native French speakers contribute significantly to our teaching staff. The program highlights film and literary analysis, supported by extensive resources such as UCL Library's distinguished French collection. Students can explore courses spanning all eras of French and francophone literature and philosophy. Additionally, learners gain access to UCL's Center for Languages & International Education facilities. The French Society enhances the experience with cultural activities, theater outings, play performances, and excursions to France. Includes a year abroad.
