This innovative program explores global literature through varied cultural and geographical lenses, preparing students for professional success in our interconnected world. Alongside cultural studies, you can learn up to two foreign languages (one annually), choosing from an extensive selection that includes Japanese, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, and various European languages, as well as classical options. During your first two years, you'll explore literary theory, cultural history, and different genres. The School of European Languages, Culture and Society (SELCS) provides numerous optional modules in both language and literature.
You'll have the opportunity to study two foreign languages (one at a time, with the option to switch once), selecting from offerings by SELCS, the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), the Centre for Languages and International Education (CLIE), or classical languages like Greek, Latin, or Hebrew - available at beginner or advanced levels.
The curriculum emphasizes research-based learning, encouraging independent cross-cultural investigation. You'll develop specialized skills in advanced textual interpretation, innovative critical writing, and digital media applications.
