This MA in Dance, Somatics, and Dance Science is a comprehensive 12-month, full-time program tailored for individuals holding an undergraduate degree in dance or dance science, especially those drawn to somatic methods in dance.
With an interdisciplinary focus, the program examines the intersection (and possible contrasts) between somatic and scientific perspectives in dance. It's ideal for dancers and graduates with prior exposure to dance science or somatics who seek to deepen their expertise and practical experience, preparing for careers in these fields.
You'll cultivate an understanding of your movement capabilities—structurally, functionally, and efficiently—through both somatic and scientific lenses. Additionally, you'll refine the language needed to thoughtfully analyze and document your practice. These competencies are valuable in professional, community, and educational dance settings, whether as a performer, teacher, practitioner, or researcher. The creative, analytical, and reflective abilities gained are also applicable across diverse career paths.
