Our 4.5-year MB ChB Medicine program prepares students to become ethical, caring physicians dedicated to patient-centered care. The General Medical Council (GMC) granted accreditation to our Medical School in May 2019.
The curriculum is structured into two distinct phases.
Phase 1 focuses on interdisciplinary units organized around bodily systems within clinical contexts. Upon completing this phase, students gain essential patient communication skills, clinical examination abilities, and foundational knowledge of human health and disease to transition into full-time clinical practice.
Phase 2 expands on these fundamentals through immersive clinical experiences. Students rotate through specialized modules, gaining comprehensive exposure to medical practice across hospital and community settings.
Clinical training occurs in hospitals and GP practices. True to Buckingham's educational approach, we maintain small student-to-teacher ratios, ensuring meaningful interactions with diverse patients and medical professionals.
Our clinical partners include Milton Keynes University Hospital, St Andrews Hospital in Northampton, South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, The Railings near Crewe, Macclesfield General Hospital, East Cheshire Trust, and Leighton Hospital in Mid Cheshire.
