The initial year of this three-year program provides an overview of the Security, Intelligence, and Cyber domain, perfect for students who require additional preparation before beginning undergraduate studies. This foundation year is designed to help bridge any gaps between your existing qualifications and experience and the requirements for degree-level education.
The BA in Security, Intelligence, and Cyber examines how 21st-century global politics and diplomacy are increasingly shaped by security concerns, both as risks and policy priorities. Government officials and business leaders now need a deep understanding of regional and international security dynamics, from Middle Eastern complexities to the rise of assertive powers in a multi-polar world or domestic extremist groups, among other challenges. Globalization has highlighted two additional critical factors. First, nations require reliable intelligence on potential threats to navigate an unpredictable world. However, how should intelligence operations align with governance, particularly in democracies where security, privacy, and accountability must be carefully balanced? Second, the 21st century is—and will continue to be—defined by the merging of digital and physical realms. Future leaders must be adept in cyberspace, understanding both its potential and dangers. The convergence of technology, security, and politics will define contemporary society.
