Research plays a pivotal role at the University of Bristol Business School, where diverse academic teams pursue impactful studies with real-world applications. According to the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF), 88% of our business and management research was deemed either 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'.
Our Business School fosters cross-disciplinary research, employing multiple theoretical approaches and methods. We embrace students from all backgrounds, offering a vibrant PhD community with organized networking opportunities.
First-year PhD candidates must complete 60 credits of taught courses while participating in workshops and reading groups. Additional training can be arranged with supervisors throughout the program.
Core research training involves selecting units from two specialized tracks (Accounting or Finance), tailored to each student's doctoral project in consultation with supervisors. The University requires a minimum 50/100 score to pass any level 7(M) course.
