Our MSci program is perfect for those pursuing research careers or seeking a competitive edge in PhD applications.
The first two years establish a comprehensive foundation in biomedical sciences, including virus studies and associated illnesses. You'll explore the immune system's role in combating infections and examine autoimmune disorders where it mistakenly targets the body's own tissues.
Later, you'll analyze major human viral diseases, covering their biological characteristics, molecular structures, immune responses, disease mechanisms, and spread patterns. These include HIV, hepatitis B/C, papillomavirus, influenza, measles, and more. The curriculum addresses contemporary challenges in virology and immunology, featuring emerging threats like Marburg, Ebola, and SARS-CoV-2 (the virus behind COVID-19).
The fourth year features an in-depth research project and professional skills development, focusing on innovation. You'll design initiatives, engage diverse audiences, and master techniques for research commercialization and practical application.
