This program examines policies and children's rights from infancy through age 19, addressing current discussions in a worldwide framework. Our evidence-based curriculum incorporates knowledge from faculty across multiple fields such as education, psychology, sociology, social work, and legal studies.
You'll analyze childhood through the lenses of family dynamics, peer relationships, and societal structures at both domestic and international scales. Study areas encompass rights of children, developmental processes, educational systems, child therapy practices, protective services, juvenile justice systems, societal impacts, and psychological development during childhood and adolescence.
During your third year, you'll have the opportunity to study abroad at one of our affiliated institutions, selecting courses from social sciences, arts, or humanities disciplines. For additional information about international study options, explore the Centre for Study Abroad.
The multidisciplinary approach of this program welcomes students from various academic backgrounds seeking comprehensive knowledge about childhood. Alumni pursue diverse career paths including teaching, child therapy, social services, legal advocacy, nonprofit organizations focused on children, public policy, and government administration.
