The Theatre and Performance Studies program enhances your knowledge and hands-on abilities through examining theoretical and historical contexts combined with interactive workshops, performance experiences, and production assignments. You'll have chances to collaborate with industry professionals and utilize our museum-certified Theatre Collection archive, broadening both your analytical and practical capabilities while expanding your perspective on potential career paths.
During your initial year, you'll acquire techniques for evaluating performances while honing practical competencies across various theatrical disciplines, such as script staging, workshop creation, and theatrical production involvement. In later years, you can select from diverse modules that will strengthen your analytical, critical, practical, and historical knowledge aligned with your personal interests and career goals.
Your academic journey concludes with an independent research project, which may take the form of a solo or ensemble performance, or a written thesis. Additionally, you'll have the option to complete a professional internship. Our extensive connections within the creative sector provide placement opportunities with organizations like Bristol Old Vic, MAYK, In Between Time, and Traveling Light Theatre. International internship possibilities are also available for students.
