Mastering German opens doors to cultural works and political discussions across German-speaking nations. The curriculum provides stimulating intellectual engagement with diverse options to follow your passions.
Both academic departments foster strong research-teaching connections, creating a dynamic educational atmosphere where instructors integrate fresh findings into their lessons.
The theater component helps you build both theoretical knowledge and hands-on abilities through critical analysis, historical study, and practical sessions. You'll have chances to collaborate with industry professionals and utilize our accredited Theatre Collection archive.
Your German studies will include structured language training alongside explorations of German-speaking cultures through literature, film, history, philosophy, politics, linguistics, and visual arts offerings. Your third year abroad in a German-speaking environment will deepen both linguistic and cultural competencies.
Returning for your final Bristol year, you can undertake independent research (practical or written) and/or complete a creative industries internship.
Instruction occurs through various formats: lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops, and personalized project guidance. Evaluation methods span presentations, essays, critiques, exams, group projects, debates, podcasts, video essays, and thesis work.
