Our BA in Comparative Literatures and Cultures with Portuguese provides a unique chance to deeply explore global cultural works while learning Portuguese, a language spoken officially in nine nations worldwide. Note that Portuguese is only offered at beginner level.
You'll examine world literatures and cultures through comparative approaches, utilizing methods from textual analysis, cultural studies, visual arts, along with insights from translation, philosophy, history, social sciences, and critical theory. All texts will be studied in English translation.

Alongside structured Portuguese language training, you'll discover the vibrant literature, films, history, philosophy, politics, and visual arts of Portuguese-speaking societies. Your third year includes study abroad in a Portuguese-speaking nation to enhance both linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding.
