The University of Brighton stands among just nine UK institutions providing doctoral studies in nuclear structure physics, renowned globally for its research on neutron-rich exotic nuclei within the A100 range.

Group members actively contribute to international partnerships at leading research centers such as RIKEN (Japan), the University of Jyväskylä (Finland), and FAIR (Germany).

Current investigations concentrate on the structural properties of neutron-rich zirconium isotopes (A 100-106). Collaborative experiments conducted at RIKEN (Japan), Jyväskylä University (Finland), Argonne National Laboratory (USA), and France's GANIL facility explore the anticipated transition from prolate to oblate shapes in these atomic nuclei.
