Sustainability plays a crucial role in today's design field. Our MA in Sustainable Design leads this domain, focusing on research-driven education, critical thinking, and creative approaches to design theory, practice, and culture.

As a postgraduate student in this well-established program, you'll develop skills to apply design research for analyzing sustainability challenges and generating innovative solutions for fairer tomorrows. 'Sustainable Design, also known as Design for Sustainability (DfS), has transformed significantly in recent decades. You'll collaborate with leading researchers, scholars, and professionals who rigorously address sustainability challenges through design. Course themes continuously adapt to reflect current developments, covering topics like gender equality in spaces, design equity, diverse perspectives, restorative design, challenging colonial influences in design, and addressing oppressive legacies in design education and practice.

Qualification Requirements

Candidates will normally have a previous degree although this does not have to be in a design subject or equivalent English language requirements IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each element Applicants must demonstrate through their personal statement within the application form and where appropriate at interview a clear motivation to engage with issues of sustainability and design through demonstrating an ability to articulate individual perceptions and understandings of sustainable design an ability to positively engage in critical discussion regarding their and its broader implications in relation to sustainability to present a body of work that demonstrates experience and competency an ambition to critically appraise and develop their practice within the context of sustainability TOEFL IBT - 85 overall, 18 in writing,10 in reading, 10 in listening and 17 in speaking.
