The Master by Research (MRes) is a one-year postgraduate program focused on research, offered jointly by the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics and the Faculty of Life Sciences. This program prepares students for professional scientific careers or PhD studies by emphasizing hands-on laboratory research experience. Through a six-month research project, participants gain practical skills while conducting innovative research with tangible applications. The program follows a research-driven learning model, where classrooms and laboratories serve as spaces for knowledge creation and implementation. Its curriculum employs a 'spiral learning' approach, progressively building and reinforcing essential skills and knowledge throughout the course. Assessment methods align with both the spiral curriculum and research-focused learning philosophy, while also developing the professional competencies required for success in scientific and academic careers.
