The Master by Research (MRes) is a one-year postgraduate program with a strong research emphasis, offered jointly by the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics and Faculty of Life Sciences. This program prepares students for professional scientific careers or PhD studies by focusing on hands-on laboratory research training. Through a six-month research project, students gain practical experience while conducting innovative research with meaningful applications. The program emphasizes research-driven education, where both classrooms and laboratories serve as spaces for creating and implementing new knowledge. Its curriculum follows a 'spiral learning' model, progressively building and reinforcing essential skills throughout the program. The assessment methods support both this spiral approach and research-focused learning, while also developing the professional competencies needed for success in scientific and academic careers.
