This Forensic Science program concentrates on handling and examining physical evidence from criminal investigations.
The curriculum highlights the use of scientific methods - especially analytical chemistry - while underscoring the significance of quality control processes in forensic environments.
A distinctive feature of the University of Bradford's methodology is combining hands-on training with strong theoretical foundations, covering crime scene examination, evidence gathering and interpretation, as well as laboratory processing and analysis.
The program equips you with comprehensive knowledge of scientific methods in forensic investigations, offering an opportunity to engage with a demanding field of applied science. You'll grow into a skilled professional capable of working in crime scene analysis, forensic science, and related laboratory disciplines.
During your studies, you'll gain valuable transferable skills including project coordination, time management, critical evaluation, analytical reasoning, presentation techniques, IT proficiency, and data handling. These competencies will be systematically taught, practiced, and evaluated.
Bradford pioneered forensic science degrees in the UK, and we consistently update the curriculum to align with industry standards.
Accordingly, we've restructured the program to provide thorough chemistry fundamentals in years 2 and 3, with a specialized final year focused on forensic applications.
Practical crime scene methods are taught in our specialized facility, with evidence analysis supported by our forensic lab and the University's Center for Chemical and Structural Analysis.
