Our Management PhD program combines a brief instructional period with an extended research phase. This structure enables you to expand your understanding of research methodologies while conducting your own study and acquiring valuable professional skills.
The Management doctoral program supports students in generating and interpreting new knowledge, as evidenced through their dissertation. The coursework ensures PhD candidates grasp the wide array of methods employed in contemporary social science research.
Students will develop proficiency in analyzing various data types using both qualitative and quantitative methods. They'll gain the ability to articulate the theoretical foundations behind different social science research approaches. We expect doctoral candidates to fully engage with the Business School community by attending seminars that introduce perspectives beyond their specialization. Active involvement in PhD workshops and conferences, both within the University of Birmingham and at external institutions, is also essential.
