The UK Government has identified quantum technology as a pivotal innovation sector, bridging scientific discovery with practical implementation. As part of this initiative, four flagship Quantum Technology Hubs have been created. This postgraduate program connects directly with the UK National Quantum Technology Hub in Sensors and Metrology - an £80 million collaborative venture spearheaded by the University of Birmingham, working alongside the Universities of Glasgow, Nottingham, Southampton, Strathclyde, and Sussex, the National Physical Laboratory, and more than 70 industry partners.

This PhD program provides students with a distinctive chance to conduct research in an interdisciplinary setting that spans science, engineering, and industry. Participants gain valuable experience through involvement in both technology transfer initiatives and applied research projects within the UK National Quantum Technology Hub in Sensors and Metrology, while also benefiting from the academic curriculum delivered by the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
