The University of Birmingham Dubai has been authorized by the DfE as an approved provider for the iQTS Initial Teacher Training program. Tailored for aspiring educators focusing on 5-11 year olds, our full-time Primary PGCE with iQTS stands as the sole face-to-face ITT (Initial Teacher Training) course in the UAE that aligns with UK Teacher Standards, featuring two practical teaching placements in our network of partner schools. With a distinguished history in teacher education, the School of Education at the University of Birmingham is recognized for excellence in both training and research across diverse educational fields. Our Dubai campus faculty have collaborated extensively with the UK Department for Education to create this rigorous teacher preparation program, culminating in a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education (PGCE) with iQTS qualification.

This intensive one-year Primary Education PGCE with iQTS equips future teachers to enter the profession as thoughtful, research-informed practitioners. The curriculum blends instruction from University of Birmingham Dubai faculty with mentorship from experienced school educators, focusing on developing essential teaching methodologies for primary classrooms. Participants will strengthen core subject expertise in English, Math, and Science while exploring broader educational topics like classroom management strategies throughout the training.
