The Physics with Data Science program provides a robust foundation in both fundamental Physics principles and the dynamic realm of Data Science. Collaboratively taught with the School of Computer Science, Data Science forms the backbone of contemporary physics research and numerous industries, ensuring graduates will have diverse career prospects. This MSci program prepares you to lead in emerging opportunities for physicists with Data Science capabilities, opening doors in academic research, industrial applications, and financial sectors.
Data Science encompasses the methods, computational systems, and analytical processes for deriving insights from information. Its growing significance stems from the exponential increase in data generation across all sectors, including Physics, presenting both challenges and possibilities for maximizing its potential through machine learning and AI applications.
Students will develop comprehensive knowledge of core Physics concepts such as Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Optics. Specialized mathematical and computational coursework will enhance Data Science proficiency, complemented by dedicated modules and hands-on projects to cultivate practical skills and advanced expertise.
