The Volcanic and Magmatic Processes research team explores magma-related phenomena across diverse tectonic environments and geological periods. Our work spans from analyzing factors influencing explosive volcanic risks to understanding the genesis of Earth's primordial continental crust. These investigations involve global partnerships, with studies conducted on both oceanic and land-based igneous formations as well as currently active volcanic regions worldwide.
Our approach employs multiple methodologies to examine magmatic and volcanic activities. The laboratory features specialized equipment including experimental petrology setups, advanced electron microscopy systems, and modern sample preparation and rock-cutting instruments. Fieldwork and geophysical data collection, frequently conducted through international collaborations, form crucial components of our research efforts.
