Our institution provides two research degree options: an MPhil or PhD in health services management and associated fields like health policy, health sociology, and leadership.
At the School of Social Policy, we deliver more than just academic qualifications. PhD candidates can participate in diverse events such as Departmental Research Seminars, Research Centre Seminars, Postgraduate Research Student Seminars, and join an active community of PhD researchers.
Our PhD programs combine structured coursework in the initial year with dedicated supervision throughout your studies, designed to support you in developing a thesis that offers meaningful and innovative contributions to the field.
We invite applications for research degrees across all aspects of health service management and healthcare policy. Applicants should specify their research interests by submitting a proposal along with supporting documents including a personal statement, CV, and confirmation of supervision from their primary supervisor. A detailed research proposal on your chosen topic is required as part of the application process. Learn more about crafting a proposal for HSMC. We encourage applications across various research areas and recommend contacting potential supervisors beforehand. Supervision is primarily provided by departmental staff, though collaborative supervision within the department or with other departments is also available.
