The Twentieth Century ushered in transformative global shifts. Engage with discussions exploring these pivotal changes and their impact on modern society through our specialized Contemporary History track.

This program examines pressing historical themes that continue to shape our world, such as environmental activism, digital revolutions, post-colonial diaspora, global cooperation, and imperial legacies.

Spanning the entire 20th century through today, this globally-focused pathway provides diverse historical perspectives - from personal narratives to urban development, and from regional studies to transnational empires.

You'll learn from Birmingham's extensive faculty of modern history experts, with opportunities to focus on British, American, African, South Asian, Middle Eastern, or European historical studies.
