The German legal framework falls under the Civil Law tradition predominant in continental Europe, while England represents the Common Law system that extends globally, including to nations like the United States. This undergraduate Law course provides comprehensive exposure to both legal traditions, offering valuable comparative insights into two of the world's most influential legal systems.
Throughout years one, two, and four of this qualifying law degree, approximately two-thirds of your studies will focus on English law, with the remaining third dedicated to German language and legal studies. A level German grade A or equivalent. Alternatively independent language diplomas will be considered when taken in addition to the three A levels (at least two from our preferred subject list) or equivalent. The independent diplomas we consider are DELF-B2 or Goethe-Zertifikat-B2.
General Studies:
General Studies is not accepted but a good performance may be taken into account if you fail to meet the conditions of the offer.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma:
6,6,6 in Higher Level subjects plus 32 points overall (to include 6 in HL German).
BTEC qualifications:
BTEC Extended Diploma in the following subject areas will be considered: Business and Law alongside an A Level in German. Grades required - DDD. Other BTEC Extended Diplomas may be considered if offered alongside an A level in German.
TOEFL 95 overall with no less than 22 in any band. IELTS 7.0 overall with no less than 6.5 in any band.
