Medical and dentistry students have the option to pause their studies for a year to enroll in one of our intercalated Medical Science degree programs. The Intercalated BMedSc in the History of Medicine offers students a thorough foundation in medical history.
This program highlights medicine's social dimensions, focusing on key historical periods from ancient times to today that shed light on contemporary medical practices. It provides medical students with valuable research competencies and the chance to conduct original historical research in medicine. Throughout the year, participants will develop expertise in evaluating research literature and gain hands-on experience in conducting new investigations.

Qualification Requirements
Applications for this programme will be accepted from students wishing to intercalate after year 3 or 4 of their medical studies, or year 2 for Dental students. Students must have obtained >60% in the second year of MBChB or BDS to be eligible. Applicants will be ranked on their year 2 mark and on their answers to the questions on the application form.
TOEFL 88 overall with no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing. IELTS 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in any band.
