The University of Birmingham's BA Modern Languages and English Literature undergraduate program equips you to thrive as a globally aware individual. This unique course combines linguistic studies with cultural exploration through the literary works of diverse societies across different historical periods.
You'll have the opportunity to learn a modern language (French, German, Italian, Russian, or Portuguese) from beginner or advanced levels while simultaneously studying English literature. This dual focus creates meaningful connections between disciplines. Birmingham's language instruction incorporates cultural studies through literature, history, and politics, enhanced by complete immersion during the Year Abroad. Note that some language combinations may be limited by scheduling constraints. Discover more about your preferred pairing.
This joint honors program explores literature's historical and contemporary influence on society. You can enroll in our specialized Shakespeare module during your second year and potentially join our educational trip to Stratford-upon-Avon.
