The University of Birmingham's BA Classics program allows you to delve into ancient civilizations while developing proficiency in Greek and Latin through original language study. Designed for students with A-level Latin experience seeking to advance their skills, this diverse program blends multiple academic disciplines.

You'll examine the multifaceted classical world - its literary works, cultural traditions, religious practices, and historical developments - while discovering its enduring influence on modern society. Studying primary texts in their original languages provides deeper insight into Greek and Latin. Our curriculum opens doors to investigate not just Greek and Roman societies, but also Egyptian civilization and the Byzantine Empire. Students benefit from exceptional resources like the Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology Museum and the Eton Myers Collection. For those passionate about Classics without A-level Latin or a GCSE Grade 7 in Latin/Modern Languages, we offer our complementary Classical Literature and Civilisation program.
