This PGCE program prepares you for primary education (ages 5-11) by building essential teaching skills. You'll learn diverse instructional methods for core subjects while gaining practical classroom experience during placements. University sessions cover professional development, curriculum knowledge, and teaching fundamentals like lesson design and evaluation. A flexible two-year part-time option accommodates your schedule. What you'll learn Our Primary Education PGCE provides comprehensive training in elementary teaching methods and curriculum design. The Evidence Informed Primary Teacher (Level 7) module establishes foundational teaching concepts and their practical application. Through The Reflective Primary Teacher (Level 7) module, you'll analyze research-based teaching strategies and critically evaluate your own instructional approaches, preparing you for dynamic early years classroom environments. Practical training includes school placements where you'll observe, plan, and conduct lessons (School Experience 1 – The Primary Early Years Teacher). You'll implement classroom management techniques in alignment with behavior policies. The subsequent School Experience 2 – The Primary Early Years Teacher module builds on these skills, focusing on instructional adaptation, assessment techniques, and strategies to enhance student progress. Career opportunities Graduates qualify for QTS certification, opening doors to primary teaching positions. Alumni frequently secure roles in regional schools. The program also serves as a pathway to advanced degrees including MA, MSc, MPhil, PhD, and EdD programs.
