This program serves as an excellent foundation if you're considering pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) after graduation but aren't ready to specialize in primary or secondary education yet.
You'll develop a strong foundation in English Literature, a core National Curriculum subject, while also acquiring essential knowledge of educational concepts, literary movements and styles, and linguistic applications. The curriculum allows you to examine society's use of language, evolving perspectives on childhood, Shakespearean works, and educational philosophy.
Starting in your second year, you can personalize your studies by selecting from various elective modules that align with your interests and career aspirations. These may encompass creative writing, teaching methodologies, diverse literary eras from Renaissance to contemporary works, youth media studies, educational psychology, and disability representation. Throughout the program, you'll investigate social, political, and cultural dynamics, enhance your textual analysis abilities, and refine your understanding of perspective, authenticity, and influence while honing exceptional communication skills.
