The SAMBa PhD program focuses on cutting-edge research bridging applied mathematics, numerical analysis, probability, and statistics. This Integrated PhD through the Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics (SAMBa) offers comprehensive training in mathematical, computational, and statistical techniques while fostering valuable partnerships with industry, government agencies, and applied science fields. Graduates have gone on to achieve success in both academic and industrial careers. Research Focus SAMBa facilitates interdisciplinary mathematical PhD projects, frequently involving external collaborators. We nurture a diverse, inclusive research community that investigates mathematical modeling - both theoretical and data-driven - inspired by real-world applications. This research spans emerging mathematical disciplines such as machine learning, uncertainty quantification, optimization, high-dimensional statistics, and numerical stochastic modeling. Doctoral candidates complete a four-year integrated research program in a world-class setting with cross-disciplinary flexibility. The program equips them to confidently frame complex challenges through statistical applied mathematics and emerge as innovative problem solvers.
