This advanced footwear design program encourages students to rethink traditional shoe concepts and explore innovative approaches. The MA Footwear program is part of the Craft Programme within London College of Fashion's School of Design Technology (SDT). The Craft Programme also encompasses MA Artefact, along with undergraduate degrees in Cordwainers Footwear, Cordwainers Fashion (Bags & Accessories), and Bespoke Tailoring. SDT additionally offers MA Fashion Futures, which shares similar practical and theoretical components with the MA Footwear program, fostering collaboration and resource sharing.
The MA Footwear program maintains strong industry connections and academic partnerships while emphasizing research. As one of only two such postgraduate programs in the UK, it has developed a distinctive curriculum centered on creative and unconventional footwear design, broadly defined as any lower body covering.
