Taking a research-driven stance, MA Cities reimagines traditional urban planning, renewal, and community development while serving as a hub for pioneering civic engagement models.
MA Cities addresses urgent urban social, ethical and ecological issues while investigating impactful global alternatives. Participants will tackle evolving urban scenarios through inventive problem-solving to meet contemporary and emerging urban design needs. MA Cities views urban environments as collective, negotiated territories shaped by diverse actors and interest groups. The program facilitates partnerships across artistic, design and architectural disciplines, working with external collaborators to share knowledge. Learners will gain hands-on experience with municipal and urban development contexts through direct work with local authorities, renewal organizations, and spatial practitioners. The course also maintains global partnerships to incorporate international insights and establish itself as a center for cross-border dialogue on innovative urban transformation.
