Aberdeen's Computing Science curriculum covers both theoretical foundations and practical applications, focusing on enhancing your technical analysis, design, and programming abilities. You'll explore subjects like software development, database systems, computer architecture, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity while applying your problem-solving skills across various commercial, scientific, and socio-economic scenarios. Our instruction mirrors how computing innovations continuously reshape daily life - from healthcare diagnostics and business analytics to secure e-commerce solutions.
You'll learn from pioneering academics whose expertise in multi-agent systems, natural language processing, machine learning, and blockchain technology directly informs your coursework. Our curriculum benefits from strong industry partnerships, with organizations like Amazon, CGI, and ScotlandIS contributing through guest lectures, seminars, and student awards.
Industry Placement
Computing Science students have the option to undertake a year-long industrial placement during their studies. This valuable experience provides professional workplace exposure and can be completed either between the third and fourth academic years or following the fourth year.
Successful completion of a CS50IP-style placement, along with meeting honors degree requirements, results in an MSci degree with industrial placement designation, recognizing the program's five-year duration.
