Aberdeen's Spanish & Latin American Studies program stands out as one of the UK's most interdisciplinary offerings. We prepare students to master a global language used by 350 million native speakers across nineteen Latin American nations, the Iberian Peninsula, and increasingly throughout the United States. Students also develop analytical abilities to examine historical, anthropological, literary, and cultural materials—including films and visual arts—while honing their capacity to articulate ideas through both written and oral presentations.
A key component of this four-year program involves spending half of the third year abroad, either as a teaching assistant or exchange student in a Spanish-speaking environment, to enhance linguistic proficiency.
