Our distinctive Film and Visual Culture curriculum merges detailed examination of visual materials—spanning analog and digital formats, motion and still media, alternative and mainstream works—with theories of visual representation, creation, and distribution. You'll acquire specialized expertise in cinematic studies, focusing particularly on honing research analysis and critical writing abilities. Additionally, you can cultivate skills in digital video production and web design.
This program pairs with comprehensive study of European and North American art history, covering painting, sculpture, architecture, and decorative arts from medieval times to today. You'll learn in historic buildings equipped with cutting-edge technology, guided by experts whose specialties include Pictish art, medieval architecture, Italian Baroque painting, early modern prints, and Scottish/British painting from the 17th to 20th centuries.
