Chemical engineers, often referred to as process engineers, scale up laboratory and small-scale production to industrial levels. Their work spans bioprocesses like pharmaceutical manufacturing, food production such as baking, industrial chemicals including fertilizers, and even nuclear energy facilities. They play a vital role in society by optimizing resource use, safeguarding the environment, and overseeing health and safety protocols.
If you possess both talent and curiosity about the physical world's workings, enjoy exploring how chemical reactions and material properties can drive transformative technologies, and aspire to improve human life through innovation, Chemical Engineering might be your ideal path.
Our BEng/MEng Chemical Engineering programs meet all standard learning objectives for the field, preparing graduates for diverse career opportunities. Situated in Aberdeen, Europe's energy hub, and with strong industry ties, our students gain early exposure to the upstream oil and gas sector. They also participate directly in the energy transition through our biochemical production research and proximity to one of the UK's largest offshore wind farms.
The University is currently modernizing its teaching infrastructure, having already added multiple specialized chemical engineering labs and cutting-edge computing and learning facilities within the School of Engineering.
