As a mental health nurse, you'll form therapeutic relationships with individuals experiencing psychological distress, promote healthy habits, identify and address symptoms promptly, and enhance mental and physical wellness for people of all ages.
The program blends theoretical learning with diverse clinical placements, enabling you to work with patients of all ages dealing with both organic and functional disorders, including those whose mental health conditions may involve them with the legal system. During placements, you'll follow shift patterns that may include weekends and night duties.
Your studies will cover physical health conditions, both medication-based and psychological treatments, along with supporting distressed family members. The curriculum also examines collaborative healthcare approaches, safeguarding protocols, and the legal framework surrounding mental health nursing.
