Mechanical engineers create and build all types of moving systems, ranging from vehicle gearboxes to artificial limbs, power generators, renewable energy systems, automated machines, and industrial equipment. You'll develop expertise in key mechanical engineering areas such as structural mechanics, motion analysis, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, material science, digital modeling, CAD systems, electrical fundamentals, computational analysis, production methods, product design, and manufacturing process simulation.

Qualification Requirements

96-112 points from any combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications. Examples include A-level, BTEC, Access to HE Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, T-Level, or the International Baccalaureate.

Accredited prior learning
You may be able to join onto year two or three if youve studied a HNC or HND. If you dont have a qualification but have gained relevant credits at Level 4 in a related subject, then credit transfer may be possible.
