Grounded in local, national and global research, SUSP's Secondary Chemistry PGCE teaches you to present Chemistry as engaging, relevant and enjoyable while developing skills to assess both your professional growth and student progress.
The Swansea University Schools Partnership leverages the institution's extensive Chemistry knowledge. SUSP delivers exceptional, practice-based initial teacher education informed by current research, following an integrated learning model. Every program component has been co-developed and will be implemented, evaluated and refined through ongoing partnership to maintain this collaborative approach.
Upon completing the SUSP PGCE, graduates become eligible for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recommendation to the Education Workforce Council, opening doors to Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) positions in schools.

Qualification Requirements

Secondary PGCE applicants must complete the following before being admitted to the programme:

Honors degree with at least 2 : 2 in a relevant subject, or a related subject with at least 50% of the content of a relevant subject
Grade C GCSE in English/Welsh (students applying for the Welsh language program must have GCSE in Welsh)
Grade C GCSE in Mathematics
Grade C in English/Welsh and Mathematics at GCSE level is a requirement set by the Welsh Government.

All the interviews are conducted in a virtual environment (using Microsoft Teams) with a PGCE subject specialist, through the medium of Welsh or English according to the applicant's wishes. The format will include a short interview and professional discussion.

All PGCE students will complete a Digital Competency check on registration and digital competency training will form part of their PGCE program of study.

Applicants are normally required to have an overall IELTS test score (or equivalent) of 7 .0 and a minimum score of 6 . 5 in each element (writing, reading, speaking and listening).TOEFL (IBT) - 96
