Our PGCE Primary program equips you with teaching skills for all primary age groups while deepening your knowledge of Wales' updated curriculum. You'll collaborate with passionate university tutors and school mentors throughout South Wales to refine and evaluate your teaching methods. A distinctive feature is the opportunity to specialize in Foundation Phase, Key Stage 2, or All-Age settings after gaining experience across different primary levels. This specialization strengthens both your teaching expertise and your insight into child development.
The Swansea University Schools Partnership (SUSP) leverages the institution's academic strengths to cultivate outstanding primary educators. SUSP offers exceptional initial teacher education founded on integrated learning principles. Every course component results from close cooperation between university faculty and school practitioners, ensuring consistent partnership in program delivery, quality control, and ongoing improvement.
Upon completing the PGCE Primary, graduates qualify for recommendation to the Education Workforce Council for QTS, opening doors to Newly Qualified Teacher positions in schools.
