This combined undergraduate honors program merges two interconnected scientific fields, providing comprehensive training in cutting-edge molecular biology methods and research essential for studying all life forms. The four-year MSci builds upon a three-year BSc by incorporating an additional year focused on advanced research, deepening your understanding of life's fundamental components. While following the same foundation as our BSc in Biochemistry and Genetics, the MSci program provides specialized instruction in diverse laboratory methods, culminating in an extended research project during the final year. Molecular biology represents a rapidly expanding field with significant applications across multiple scientific domains that intersect with biochemistry, including medical research, drug development, and environmental studies. The curriculum explores genetic mechanisms in living systems and cellular operations at molecular levels, offering thorough insight into biochemical functions across all organisms - from microorganisms to plants, animals, and humans. Students will cultivate strong project coordination abilities and master experimental design and workflow planning.
Graduates with a Biochemistry and Genetics degree can pursue rewarding careers in various sectors such as: Biotech industries, Pharmaceutical development, Medical diagnostics, Evolutionary studies, and Computational biology.
