Swansea University's Sport and Exercise Science research is conducted within the Applied Sports, Technology, Exercise and Medicine (A-STEM) research center. This interdisciplinary hub bridges gaps between conventional academic fields through research, education, and community engagement. As the sole UK research-focused institution housing Sport and Exercise Science within an Engineering department, Swansea offers a distinctive approach. The research focuses on three key domains: High-Performance Athletics, Health and Medical Exercise Science, and Sports Ethics and Governance. Our work integrates scientific, technological, and medical advancements across various populations - from youth and seniors to clinical patients and world-class athletes. Crucially, this practical research informs academic instruction, community initiatives, and professional development programs, creating tangible benefits for competitive sports, learners, businesses, healthcare recipients, and society at large.
