The Energy Safety Research Institute (ESRI) stands as a premier hub for advancing energy resource technologies and can accommodate numerous students in this field. ESRI's research primarily focuses on these key areas: Hydrocarbon: Extraction and refinement of oil and gas, downstream challenges in fuel processing, additive development, and fuel chemistry optimization, Hydrogen: Efficient hydrogen production from waste energy, photocatalytic hydrogen generation, and hydrogen's role in energy systems, solar energy capture, CO2: Effective carbon dioxide extraction from fuels and its utilization as an energy source, Biofuel: Streamlining production processes to align with chemical industry supply chains, Energy distribution: Intelligent grid systems and advanced carbon nanotube conductors, marine energy technologies, Computational analysis: Energy sector applications including oil field management and power network optimization, along with other innovative energy initiatives

Applicants must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2:1 level (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University) in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, or a related discipline, such as chemistry, biochemistry, physics, or other engineering or related discipline. IELTS 6.5 Overall (5.5+ each comp.) or Swansea University recognised equivalent.
