At Swansea University, Sport and Exercise Science research is conducted through the Applied Sports, Technology, Exercise and Medicine (A-STEM) research center. Our research focuses on three key domains: Elite Athletic Performance, Exercise for Health and Medicine, and Sports Ethics, Integrity, and Governance. Swansea University's dynamic research environment offers an ideal foundation for pursuing PhD or MPhil studies in Sports Science. Recent doctoral projects have explored diverse topics such as: Ischemic preconditioning techniques for elite athlete training and recovery, Creating support systems for parents of young elite athletes, Innovative 3D printing approaches to assess children's physical activity, Measuring physical activity's effect on quality of life in youth with cystic fibrosis, Fairness principles in tennis, Enhancing motivation in exercise-based video games through psychological needs, and Assessing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes risks in workplace environments.
