Swansea University stands at the forefront of research in power semiconductor technology, power electronics, nanotechnology, biometrics, and advanced numerical modeling of micro and nanoelectronic devices, offering an outstanding environment for PhD or MPhil research in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. The Electronic Systems Design Centre (ESDC) has gained recognition for its pioneering work in Power IC technology, a critical innovation for enhancing energy efficiency in electronics. Additionally, the Centre leads globally in semiconductor device modeling, including FEM and compact modeling. As part of ESDC, the Nanoelectronic Devices Computational Group has undertaken notable projects such as: Parallel 3D Finite Element Monte Carlo Simulations for Multigate Transistors, Modeling Metal-Semiconductor Contacts for Next-Gen Nanoscale Transistors, and Developing Novel GaN HEMT Switches for Power Management, focusing on design, optimization, and reliability.
