An MPhil in Digital Media allows you to pursue an extensive research project driven by your personal interests and aspirations. This prestigious degree can open doors to academic careers or expand job opportunities in education, government, and private industries. The program duration is two years full-time or four years part-time, culminating in a 60,000-word thesis showcasing original research, followed by an oral defense (viva voce). Our Digital Media faculty belong to the Centre on Digital Arts and Humanities (CODAH), with expertise spanning media theory, media technology history, new media, digital developments across the UK, Europe, USA, China, and global journalism. Prospective students should consult with potential supervisors before applying to refine their research proposal. You'll receive guidance from two expert supervisors through regular meetings (fortnightly initially, then at scheduled intervals). The program enhances research capabilities for advanced digital media work, supplemented by campus skills training. Opportunities include presenting at departmental seminars and postgraduate conferences, with potential second-year undergraduate teaching roles (including training and compensation). Approved conference attendance and external research may receive financial assistance.
