Today's healthcare relies on collaborative teams, with pharmacists playing an expanding role in delivering innovative clinical services across various settings. Our Pharmacy program acknowledges these evolving responsibilities, combining scientific knowledge with practical training to equip students for modern pharmacy's dynamic landscape. After successfully completing the Foundation Year with a 60% average (including at least 60% in Preparatory (Foundation) Pharmacy and Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry), students advance to Year 1, where the curriculum mirrors real-world pharmacist-patient interactions.
Swansea's Pharmacy program leverages the Medical School's strengths through interdisciplinary collaboration. Understanding that healthcare professionals work as teams, our training mirrors clinical environments. Students gain from our expertise in clinical sciences, research, and practice, developing both pharmaceutical knowledge and practical skills.
Our commitment to scientific excellence combined with patient-centered care enables the Medical School to produce skilled healthcare professionals ready to serve NHS and patient needs.
Within six months of graduation, 98% of our pharmacy graduates are employed or pursuing further education. Pharmacist salaries vary by specialization and location, with NHS starting salaries exceeding £35,000 (potentially reaching £43,000-£60,000 after a decade). Community pharmacy roles may offer starting salaries up to £50,000. As valued clinical team members, pharmacists can pursue diverse career paths including hospital, community, or primary care pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry roles, and academic positions.
