This Dual Master's program in Specialized Translation and Interpreting, delivered through an exclusive collaboration between Swansea University's renowned Translation department and France's third-largest institution, Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), allows students to develop professional skills across two distinct academic settings while establishing translation networks in both countries.
Exclusively for candidates with native or near-native proficiency in English and French, this program merges core components from Swansea's MA in Translation and Interpreting (Year 1) and UGA's Master LEA specialized translation track (Year 2), both aligned with the EMT Competence Framework 2017 standards. The program welcomes exceptional language specialists, regardless of whether their background is in languages or other fields where they aim to develop translation expertise. Graduates earn Master's degrees from both institutions. Students can optionally incorporate German or Spanish alongside English in Year 1 and French in Year 2.
Admission is highly competitive, with a joint Board of Studies selecting candidates based on applications, academic records, references, translation assessments, and interviews. Tuition fees apply at current rates for UK, EU, or international students at their respective host institution each year (Swansea for Year 1, UGA for Year 2).
This career-focused MA substantially improves employment prospects in professional linguistics. Students often establish valuable industry connections during studies or internships.
Alumni pursue diverse translation and interpreting careers, with many continuing to research degrees and academic positions.
