This Dual Master's in Specialized Translation, delivered through an exclusive collaboration between Swansea University's renowned Translation department and Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) - France's third-largest institution - allows students to develop professional translation skills across two distinct academic settings while establishing industry connections in both countries.
Exclusively for candidates with native-level proficiency in English and French, this program integrates core components from Swansea's MA in Professional Translation (Year 1) and UGA's Master LEA specialized translation track (Year 2), both aligned with the EMT Competence Framework 2017 standards. The program welcomes exceptional language specialists, regardless of whether their background is in languages or other fields they wish to specialize in for translation. Graduates earn Master's degrees from both institutions. Students can optionally work with German or Spanish alongside English (Year 1) and French (Year 2).
Admission is highly competitive, with a joint Board of Studies selecting candidates based on applications, academic records, references, and potential interviews. Tuition fees apply at current rates for UK, EU, or international students at their respective host institution each year (Swansea for Year 1, UGA for Year 2).
This career-focused MA in Professional Translation substantially improves employment prospects in the translation field. Students often develop valuable professional networks during their studies or internships.
Graduates pursue diverse careers in translation and interpreting, while others continue to research degrees and academic careers.
