Our combined Politics and International Relations program is tailored for students passionate about both national governance (covering political theory, electoral systems, and legislative bodies) and global affairs (focusing on international relations theories, security issues, and conflict resolution). This program enables students to gain proficiency in both domains while examining interdisciplinary subjects like environmental policy, global economics, and international development. The curriculum provides foundational knowledge in both political science and international relations during the first year, followed by opportunities for specialization and deeper exploration of domestic-international connections in subsequent years. The final year emphasizes independent study, giving students the freedom to concentrate on their preferred subjects. Additionally, final-year students can participate in a Welsh Parliament internship and a British Parliamentary Studies module, partially instructed by UK Parliament specialists. With a strong focus on career readiness, 91% of our graduates secure employment or pursue advanced studies within six months of graduation (DLHE 2015). Participants typically hone exceptional communication and writing abilities while mastering various presentation techniques, alongside cultivating robust research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Graduates in Politics and International Relations pursue diverse career paths, such as: political analysis & strategy, policy research, electoral administration, public sector governance, municipal leadership, corporate oversight, political messaging, risk assessment, advocacy, diplomacy, international civil service, security operations, and humanitarian work. Notable employers of recent alumni include: political entities, UK government departments (Foreign Office, Treasury, Defense), devolved governments (particularly the Welsh Parliament), local authorities, military and law enforcement, PR agencies, educational institutions, policy research organizations, NGOs, intergovernmental bodies (e.g., World Bank, UN), media companies (BBC), tech firms, consulting agencies, and security specialists (e.g., Control Risks).
